PTI, JI agree to jointly contest local body elections

PESHAWAR- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have decided to form a coalition for the Local Bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The decision of joining forces for the LB elections in the province was made by a delegation of both the parties at Speaker House and decided to nominate joint candidates in LB polls. A parliamentary board will be formed by PTI and JI to nominate candidates for the polls.

It should be noted that opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) have also decided to contest the grass-root level elections jointly.

The meeting besides others was also attended by speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaisar of Tehreek-e-Insaf and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professor Ibrahim.

Seat to seat adjustment for the election will be made later on. Both the coalition partners in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government also decided to hold LB elections in last week of May this year.
