Five dacoits tortured the son of a former MPA and took away Rs4 million, a licensed rifle, cellphones and other valuables from his house in the broad daylight on Monday.

The incident occurred in Housing Colony No-1 in the remit of Toba City Police around noon.

Ex-MPA Ch Nasim told the police that four dacoits barged into the house while five remained outside in a car. "They also tortured my son Hafiz Naeem when he put up resistance," he said. The City Police have started investigation with no clue or arrest.

In another incident seven robbers looted away cash and other valuables worth Rs700,000 from the house of Qasim in Chak 469 /JB.

Meanwhile, the bandits took away cash and other valuables worth Rs1.9 million from the house of former assistant to education minister in Amirdin Town here on Monday. Ex-assistant officer Kishwar Riaz said that incident occurred in the night when there was no one in the home.

COLONIES FOR KILN WORKERS: A residential colony will be built for kiln workers in each tehsil of district Toba Tek Singh over state land, DCO Amer Ijaz Akbar said on Monday.

Addressing to a meeting of the District Vigilance Committee, he directed for conducting a three days free medical camps for the check-up of kiln workers and families on monthly basis. He also directed the Labour Department to issue notices to brick-kiln owners who are not paying wages fixed by the government.

On this occasion labour leaders Muhammad Shabbir, Ayub Anjum and representatives of kiln-owners were also present.
