ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday chaired a high-powered promotion board meeting and gave approval for promotion of officers from grade 21 to 22.

Sources in Establishment Division informed The Nation that the PM chaired board meeting after 10-month time and Secretary Establishment Division, Chairman Federal Public Service Commission, Secretary Cabinet Division and Secretary to PM attended the meeting at the PM house.

They said that the PM chaired the meeting in two sessions and gave approval of several senior officers’ promotion to grade 22.

The PM chaired the last board meeting in April 2015, and promoted 18 officers of different services groups. Under the services rules, the board meeting should be held after every six months.

The sources revealed that four officers of police services including Iqbal Mehmood, Ahsan Ghani, Shaukat Hayato and Naseem-uz-Zaman have been promoted to grade 22.

Additional Secretary of Establishment Division Mohsin S Haqqani (grade 21) officer of Pakistan Administrative Services has also been promoted to grade 22.
