According to sources, a citizen namely Faiz Akram, 45, withdrawn cash Rs 50,000 from a private bank located on Dhoke Syedan Road and was returning home when two dacoits riding on motorcycle intercepted him at street number 4. One of the dacoits tried to snatch cash from Faiz. However, he overwhelmed the snatcher. On this, the second dacoit fired a bullet at Faiz. The bullet hit Faiz into his leg. Later the dacoits snatched cash from him and both culprits managed to escape from the scene, sources added. The locals called Rescue 1122 which moved the victim to DHQ Hospital, they said.
When contacted, station house officer of police station RA Bazaar, Haji Tariq confirmed the incident and said that police were trying to trace out the dacoits.
He said that police have also registered a case against the unknown accused.
On the other hand, the locals and traders protested against police and Muhafiz squads for not controlling street crimes in the city. They said the Muhafiz Squad has badly failed to curb crimes. They lamented that a few days ago robbers looted a bank and killed a poor security guard on resistance which was an ample proof of failure of Muhafiz Squad. They demanded RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja to take action against Muhafiz Squad and its bosses.
