LAHORE  - The government should get amended the outdated 72 labour laws and unify them since the most of those laws were promulgated more than a century ago and get enforced those laws through independent labour inspection machinery in conformity with ILO Convention No 81 ratified by the government. The PM should also get introduced the progressive administrative reforms in the national public utilities for raising their efficiency.

These demands were raised in a resolution passed in the large meeting of trade union representatives and workers from the different public and private sector entities held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Monday under the aegis of All Pakistan Workers Confederation.

The meeting was addressed by the veteran trade union leader Khurshid Ahmed, general secretary APWF, along with Rubeena Jameel, president, Yousaf Baloch, chairman, and workers representatives from PTCL, Railway, National Bank, WAPDA and other industrial enterprises.

By another resolution, the house demanded the federal minister finance to get released 170 billion rupees of the Workers Welfare Fund to the provincial government. By another resolution, the house demanded the Prime Minister to take immediate necessary action to introduce land reforms and adopt national economic self reliance policy and accord respect to the dignity of workers in the society. The house decided to hold national conference in Feb 2016 to strengthen the struggle of the working class.
