ISLAMABAD -  Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked that arrogance is an ulcer and death of a judge.

The Punjab police on Thursday submitted a report on the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kasur in the Supreme Court.

According to the report, some 227 persons were interrogated by the police in the case.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on January 10 had taken notice of the rape and murder of 7-year-old girl Zainab and sought report from the IGP Punjab within 24 hours.

The minor girl has been raped and brutally murdered in Kasur district. Her dead body was found lying in a garbage dump. She was abducted five days ago when she was going to learn Quran. Later, the family and community took to streets to protest the brutal incident.

The IGP submitted the report in the apex court, which contains crucial details of the condition of minor girl’s body. The report says that the medical examination was conducted by the Women Medical Centre.

It also states: “Anterior abdominal was greenish, tongue is protruding out from teeth. Hyoid bone (was) fractured, the muscles attached were congested with blood oozing from the neck muscles on dissection.” “Eyes closed and mouth semi-opened (small amount of clotted blood in right nostril and on the lower lip,” the report added.

“A large number of CCTV footages of various cameras installed on nearby roads/streets comprising long hours of videos were worked out by deputing number of personnel. The IT team managed to work out video footage of unidentified suspect carrying the girl to a remote area of Peru Wala Road, Kasur,” the report said.

Along with details of the post-mortem report, IG Punjab’s report also contained details of the measures being taken by the Punjab police to trace the culprit. “House to house search with help of last crime scene witness was carried out to identify the culprits,” the report read.

Online adds: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar said Zainab was daughter of the nation and the head of the whole nation is hanging in shame over this heinous incident of rape and murder.

Expressing condolences over the brutal rape and murder of eight-year-old Zainab in Kasur, he said, “My wife is more disturbed and aggrieved than me over this incident.”

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court presided over by CJP Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Mashir Alam and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah took up Al-Razi Medical College case for hearing on Thursday.

At the inception of hearing CJP said, “Why the lawyers have observed strike today?”

Aitzaz Ahsan said strike was being observed against Kasur incident.

The CJP remarked, “Zainab was daughter of entire nation. The head of the whole nation hangs in shame due to this brutal incident. My wife is more aggrieved than I am over this heinous crime. Though the nation is in grief and anger yet there is no justification for lawyers strike.”

He remarked, “Lawyers must be responsible to stop violence. I am requesting the lawyers to shun the way of violence.”  Aitzaz said strike was being observed against firing on protesters.

The CJP remarked, “Had Aitzaz not been there, lawyers movement would not have run. Aitzaz as a legislator will have to play the same role now.”

The CJP observed, “Role will have to be played for reforms in health and judiciary.”

Aitzaz said some negative aspects of movement for independent judiciary had also come to fore. Violent lawyers and arrogant judges were product of movement for independence of judiciary, he added.

The CJP remarked, “Arrogance is an ulcer and death of a judge. The judges should not be arrogant in any way.”

The court, while directing the lawyers of parties concerned for giving three names each in connection with inspection team, allowed Khyber Medical University to issue results of admission test.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 16.

The CJP has also taken suo motu notice of the rape and murder incident of seven year old girl in Kasur and sought report from IG Punjab on this matter.
