FAISALABAD-State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that the government is taking revolutionary step to address the problems of common man.

He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar at the latter’s chamber. He said that the government was taking revolutionary steps to promote education and research culture, provision of state-of-the-art health facilities, uplift of agriculture sector, and power generation initiatives.

He said that when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz came to power four years ago, the country was facing power outages of 18 hours. “We have put an end to loadshedding and pulled the country out of darkness of power outages,” he said. The government of PML-N had added 8,000 megawatts to the national grid since it came to power, he added.

He urged the scientists to find solutions to redress the grievances of common man. He also said that agriculture is the backbone of the economy, contributing 20 percent to the gross domestic product. He said that the government had brought Prime Minster Kissan Package worth Rs341 billion in order to make development in agriculture sector and to facilitate farmers. He said that quality education and trained manpower were essential to compete with the rest of the world. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the UAF in the area of academia and research with a special focus on the agriculture sector.
