MULTAN-Former Punjab Governor and PPP South Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood anticipated on Thursday that days of Sharifs have been numbered and they are fast heading towards extinction from political scene.

Addressing a news conference here at Multan Press Club, he said that the PML-N leadership attacked judiciary and other national institutions and Nawaz Sharif as well as other leaders ridiculed and abused the institutions. “Even the Premier Abbasi is insulting Judiciary while following in the footsteps of his leadership,” he maintained. He accused former premier Nawaz Sharif of following in the footsteps of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman and Altaf Hussein. He said that he is surprised on the way Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz abused and ridiculed the institutions.

He was of the opinion that the PML-N government completely failed to deliver to the public. He said that the country is passing through critical situation but the acts of the government pushed the country into a serious isolation. Criticising Nawaz Sharif, he said that on one hand the entire world has been making efforts to eliminate money-laundering while on the other Nawaz Sharif attempting to justify his crime after being convicted in money-laundering case.

To a query, he declared that the PPP is a secular party and is against the Talibanisation in the society. He said that the PPP is a different political party from those who demanded opening of Taliban offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, donated millions of rupees from national exchequer to Maulana Samiul Haq’s seminary and were talking about alliance with Taliban.

Giving details of south Punjab executive council meeting, he said that his party strongly condemned the brutal murder of Zainab in Kasur. He said that the PML-N government failed to safeguard the lives of the masses and instead contributed to destroying the entire fabric of the society. Commenting on ongoing sugarcane crisis, he said that the Punjab Government crushed the farmers in cane crushing season. “The so-called Khadime Ala has spent millions on propagating that the sugarcane will be bought at Rs180 per 40kg and there will be no deduction but his own sugar mills are forcefully buying cane at Rs130 to 150 per 40kg,” he alleged.

He claimed that the media in Punjab intentionally portrayed negative picture of PPP. “The media must acknowledge the role of PPP in national development,” he added.

Referring to Imran Khan, he said that if a person could not keep his marriage intact, how he could run the country. “Making marriage is not a sin but scandalizing marriage is a sin and he scandalized his marriage,” he added.
