Another notice served on PIA MD

LAHORE The Lahore High Court has issued another notice to the PIA managing director for not responding to the notice earlier issued by the court regarding reportedly promotion of seven officers to next grade on fake degrees. The court again asked the PIA MD to file reply regarding above said matter. Several officers of PIA seeking anonymity have expressed their concerns over the attitude of management which neither even has bothered to hold a departmental inquiry into the matter nor has submitted reply to the LHC. When contacted Admin Manager PIA Punjab Salee-ul-Haq said that it was pertaining to legal department of the airline and the response regarding fake degrees would be submitted to the LHC by that department. To a question whether PIA administration had held an inquiry against those officers who had allegedly submitted fake degrees to the airline, he expressed his ignorance. It is worth mentioning here that PIA employees Mudassar Hassan Rana, Muhammad Arshad Khan and others had filed a writ petition in the court claiming that seven officers working in PIA Marketing and Sales Department promoted to next grade were not holding the degrees recognised by the HEC or any other controlling institutions. They claimed that promotion of these officers was against the law, policy and procedure. PIA management has promoted seven officers including Muhammad Ijaz Reservation and Ticketing Officer, PIA Lahore, Wajid Saleem Ch Sales Promotion Officer, Ms Qaisera Tabassum, Reservation and Ticketing Officer (RTO), Irfan Basit (RTO), Tanveer Qasim RTO, Rao Muhammad Arif, Sales Promotion Officer and Israr-ul-Haq RTO. PIA employees claimed that PIA management had promoted 25 officers to group five to six but among them 90 per cent officer were holding fake degrees issued by Al-Khair University or other such universities which were blacklisted by the court or they have no campus in Lahore or Karachi where these officer could attend classes. Sources claimed that some employee union leaders had taken service record of the employees in question and they had tempered the record of some of them also, however, admin department had ruled out any such possibility and said that they had not issued service record of any officer to any union office-bearer.
