LAHORE – An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was forcibly retired from service; while annual increment and promotion of 14 police officers, including 10 ASIs, have been stopped on the charges of corruption, misuse of power and patronage of criminals.

DIG Operations Rai Muhammad Tahir issued these orders while listening to the replies of show cause notices served on different police officers ranking from constable to inspector.

The City’s operation police chief forcibly retired ASI Khalid Farooq after the charges of patronising criminals were proved against him. The spokesman said the same ASI was also held guilty of backing his brother-cum-dacoit involved in multiple crime acts in different parts of the City.

The DIG categorically said the department had no room for such black sheep and these would be dealt with iron hands whenever they would be held guilty.

Similarly, he also forfeited service of two year and censured Inspector Amjad Ali on charges of violating court orders while the punishment of one-year promotion and one-step degradation in salary was awarded to Inspector Muhammad Javed on using delaying tactics in registration of genuine cases.

Sub-inspector Hussain Farooq was awarded punishment of censure on the charges of lingering on cases of serious nature whereas SI Binyamin was also censured and awarded punishment of penalty on hurling life threats to a citizen Sikandar Abbas. SI Taseer Riaz, SI Asghar Ali and SI Altaf Hussain were awarded punishment of censure on charges of misbehaving with judicial magistrate, poor performance and failure in arresting desperate criminals.

Similarly, ASI Muhammad Saleem and four constables namely Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Sajjad, Akram Ali and Salman Ali were also awarded punishment of different natures on misuse of power, absence, and etc on the same day.

TWO BOOKED FOR KILLING RELATIVES: City Police booked on Wednesday two people who had allegedly gunned down their three relatives, including a woman, in Tajpura Scheme the previous day, but no arrest has been made so far.

The bereaved family members and police investigators believed Muhammad Arshad shot dead his wife Zarina Bibi, her father Muhammad Khawar and her maternal nephew Akhtar late on Tuesday when they were asleep at their residence situated in Tajpura Scheme.

DSP Cantonment Circle said the Dubai-returned Arshad, in connivance with his brother, had committed this heinous act of crime over a family dispute. “The couple often fought over petty household matters that ultimately resulted in this tragic incident,” he stated.

According to the FIR (561/12) registered against Arshad and his real brother Muhammad Imran under sections 302, 14 and 109 of PPC, both the alleged culprits, equipped with automatic sophisticated firearms, entered the house around 11:00pm and sprayed indiscriminate bullets on the victims. Subsequently, three people sustained multiple bullet injuries; two of whom died instantly while the third breathed his last at a local hospital.

On Wednesday, Ghaziabad Police lodged the case against the two nominated people on the statement of Muhammad Asghar, the brother of Zarina Bibi. Police have informed the Airport Security Force to keep an eye on the two culprits since they may try to escape to Dubai.

GANG BUSTED: Lorry Adda Police busted a gang comprising six criminals involved in multiple crimes on Wednesday. The arrested criminals identified as Mubeen Saleem Butt, Adeel alias Achu, Saddaqat, Qadeer, Atif, and Safdar have also confessed to robbing several houses and victimising numerous innocent citizens and depriving them of their valuables.
