LAHORE – Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) CEO Sharafat Sial on Wednesday suspended 23 sub-divisional officers (SDOs) over poor performance and failure in bringing down line losses in their respective areas.

It is a common concept that line losses go up when the electricity theft increases in a sub-division. Power Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, soon after holding the charge of the new ministry, had strictly advised the chiefs of power distribution companies to control the electricity theft in their limits and gear-up the recovery campaigns against the defaulters.

“The suspension of the SDOs is a right step by the Lesco CEO and a warning for the other officers to improve their performance,” said an officer of the Lesco. “Some other SEs and XENs whose performance is below the line are given time frame of one month, with the direction that they should make their performance better during this period,” he added.

Sial issued order of suspension of Sultanpura Sub-Division SDO Naeem Jamali, Chah Meeran SDO Babar Rafique, Wasanpura SDO Shahid Nazeer, Shadbagh SDO Sajjad Rahim, GT Road SDO Mujahid Saeed, Sharqpura SDO Zakaullah, Kot Abdulmalik SDO Rustam Ali, Faizpura SDO Ashgar Sukhaira, Jia Mosa SDO Najmul Hassan, Walton Road SDO SM Furqan, Badian Road SDO Zahid Jalal, Shairanwala SDO Junaid Iqbal, Karim Park SDO Usman Ijaz and Nawankot SDO Rao Kamran.

Similarly, Rana Shahbaz, SDO at Waris Shah Sub-Division, Hamad Ullah at Muzaffarabad, Abdur Rab at Civil Line Sheikhupura, Ata Ullah at Haveli City, Iftikhar Ahmed at Hujra South, Syed Qurban at Hujra North, Mudassar Imran at Haveli Rural, Ijaz Odh at Khankan Dogran and Muhammad Naeem at Rachna Town Sub-Division Okara Circle have also been suspended over poor performance.
