islamabad : The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the power tariff by Rs1.51 per unit. The increase was made under the monthly fuel adjustment and will be implemented in electricity bills in May. Consumers will see the charges of this increase in their December bills. Meanwhile, the Federal Cabinet has decided that load shedding on equal basis would be ensured throughout the country. The meeting held here on Wednesday with Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf in the chair. 

The Cabinet was apprised by the Ministry of Water and Power that the power generation has increased and the shortfall has reduced to 3500 MW.

The meeting decided that there would be no load shedding at Taraveeh’ Sehar and Iftar timings during Ramazan.

The Cabinet was apprised that additional 2000MW electricity will be added in the national grid by the end of the year.

It was informed that 90pc of its decisions regarding the Ministry of Communication have been implemented.
