NRDF removes misconception against polio vaccines


PESHAWAR  - National Research and Development Foundation (NRDF) is running successful campaign for the removal of misconception amongst parents against polio vaccines and convinced hundreds of them on administering vaccines to their children.
This was stated by provincial member NRDF, Maulana Jehanzeb while addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Wednesday. He was flanked by coordinator NRDF, Mian Shahab and officials of the office of Executive District Health Officer, Peshawar.
He said that hundreds of parents in rural union councils included Palosai, Tehkal, Nehqi, Badhber and Hazara Khwani were refusing to administer polio vaccines. He said that with the cooperation of ulema, sittings have been arranged with them to remove their reservations.
He said that during the awareness campaign the parents were informed that there is no harm in the administering of polio drops as it has no ingredient injurious to health. With the support of ulema, the refusing parents, he said had agreed on administering vaccines to their children.
He said that in district Peshawar polio eradication campaign will be completed in two phases.
In first phase polio drops will be administered to children from July 8-11 in 57 medium risk union councils and from July 16-18 in high-risk union councils of the district.
