KARACHI - There has been an overwhelming response from all over the world regarding the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2012.The event would take place from November 7 to 11 at the Expo Centre Karachi.The preparations are underway for the holding of this mega event aimed at promoting business opportunities in Defence Sector of Pakistan, in a befitting manner.The second Steering Committee Meeting for 7th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2012) was held at Expo Center here on Wednesday.The key members and stakeholders discussed the latest developments during the pre-event activities and agreed upon the most effective future direction to make the event a success. A statement said the meeting was chaired by Major General Tahir Ashraf Khan, Director General, Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Ministry of Defence Production. It said that preparations for 7th of the series of IDEAS, to be held from 7th to 11th November 2012 at Karachi Expo Center, are currently underway at full throttle. Addressing the members of the meeting, Major General Tahir Ashraf Khan stated: “While we are working diligently to make IDEAS 2012 successful, we continue to receive an overwhelming response from foreign exhibitors. The fact that more than 70% space has already been booked builds the momentum for IDEAS-2012 and reflects the great potential that this particular exhibition holds”.Furthermore, DG DEPO directed that all the participants of the meeting must cooperate and collaborate to ensure that IDEAS-2012 helps create a positive impression upon all foreign exhibitors, delegates and trade visitors by highlighting the soft image of Pakistan as well as, a responsible and well-organized nation that is brimming with untapped business opportunities. During the meeting, representatives of concerned departments made detailed presentations to highlight the progress made in various activities, which their department is looking after. All members assured full support and commitment to work together for the success of the event, in the national interest, whereby the exhibition will pay a key role in promoting the reputation of Pakistan in general, and Karachi in particular, as a hospitable country and city respectively.
