BAHAWALPUR - 28 Ramazan bazaars and 25 fair price shops will start functioning from July 18 to provide daily-use items to people on concessionary prices during the upcoming holy month of Ramazan in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar districts. Similarly, 140 Ramazan dastarkhawan will be established throughout the division with the help of philanthropists, where poor people will provide free iftar and sehar. Commissioner Bahawalpur Muhammad Khan Khichi stated this while presiding over in a meeting of DCOs of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan and officers of the departments concerned here on Tuesday.
The commissioner advised the officials to formulate a comprehensive plan to avert shortage daily-use items during Ramazan. Fresh vegetables and fruits will be provided at lower prices at Ramazan bazaars.
On the occasion, DCO Dr Naeem Rauf said that recommendations had been sent to the government to delegate the market committees secretaries the powers of magistrate to monitor price-hike and hoarding.
It was also decided in the meeting that madni dastarkhawan will be established in the model bazaar in Bahawalpur.
Acting RPO Ishaq Ahmad Jahangir told the participants that foolproof security arrangements would be made for the security of mosques.
