Workers stage protest against price-hike, loadshedding

LAHORE – Wapda and electricity workers on Wednesday took out a procession and staged protest against the hike in electricity prices and loadshedding in the country.
The protest was held under the aegis of Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union. The workers raised slogans against the increase in prices of essential commodities of daily life before the holy month of Ramazan.
They demanded the implementation of accepted package of demands for the workers by the water and power minister. The procession marched through various roads and staged protest on Lakshmi Chowk. Union General Secretary Khursheed Ahmad, Maiik Noor Muhammad, Osama Tariq and others addressed them.
The rally passed a resolution urging the government to develop coal-fired thermal power stations.
