Load shedding has turned every Pakistani into an energy expert, they are all talking nonstop of coal and gas, wind and solar energy generation and they even remember the total installed capacity, but have completely forgotten that Pakistan is an agricultural country and needs water as much as it needs power! If we take the installed capacity, what will happen to the cost per unit, if all the idle plants start producing at Rs16 per unit? What will happen to circular debt, and what will happen to the energy mix already heavily tilted towards thermal? Even our rulers know that the remedy lies in improving the energy mix drastically by building a mega dam immediately and not in 10 to 12 years time.
