Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Mr Sun Weidong visited blue pottery, camel skin and Multani Khussa stalls and appreciated the skills of local craftsmen here on Saturday. The envoy also visited the shrine renowned saint of sub-continent Shah Rukan Uddin Alam and exhibited keen interest in the construction of the mausoleum. The ambassador also called on District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal and discussed with him future projects and issues of mutual interest.
On the occasion, DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal said that the love for China was so deep rooted in every Pakistani’s heart that it circulated in his body like blood. He added that the Chinese investment for the uplift of this historic city was an expression of love from a great friend.
Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong Saturday said his country attaches high priority to early implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPECP) since it provides equal benefits to all parts of the country.
During his visit to Bodhi Cotton Gining Company and Multan Cotton Research Station on second-day of his city’s tour, he said China has undertaken a number of projects in Pakistan for its fast socioeconomic growth. Ambassador Weidong had hectic engagements in the city that included visit to Bagasse Power Plant. His visit was highly significant in the context of CPECP and its implementation in different parts of the country. He was given warm welcome during the visit by the local businessmen and the officials. His personal interest in the development of local industry was highly appreciated.
The ambassador expressed the hope that CPECP would be another milestone, further deepening the all-weather friendship and all-round cooperation and build up the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny. “We share the same dream of achieving economic growth, social progress, people’s well-being and national peace and prosperity,” he added.
About the CPECP, the Chinese envoy further said that it would be a gateway not only for progress and prosperity of both the countries but the entire region. Located on economic corridor, Multan has got great importance, he said and added that his country would initiate various projects to promote local cotton and mango industry by strengthening infrastructure.
He called for extending ties between two countries at local government level for generating swift economic activity and employment opportunities.
