Rawalpindi - First Secretary of Turkish Embassy Islamabad Alperen Uyar has said the people of Pakistan and Turkey have deep rooted relations of friendship which would be strengthened more by helping the down trodden and deprived segments of society.

He said this while addressing to the orphans and office bearers of Anjuman Faizul Islam at an iftar dinner hosted by the Embassy of Turkey and Turkish Red Crescent Society here at Anjuman Faizul Islam in Raja Ghulam Qadir Hall of AFI here last evening. Country Representive of Turkish Red Crescent Sadullah Dawlatgaldi, President of AFI Mohammad Siddique Akbar Mian, General Secretary Raja Fateh Khan, other office bearers, journalists and a large number of inhabitants of APNA GHAR were present on the occasion. First Secretary of Turkish Embassy said the people of Pakistan are very loving and caring to whom we had great respect. “A number of social welfare and social uplift projects are being carried out by the government of Turkey and Turkish NGOs to help Pakistani society reduce its poverty”, he added. He appreciated the incessant efforts of Anjuman Faizul Islam as an orphanage and a social welfare organization and said the organizations like AFI must be given helping hand by the government, NGOs and philanthropists to enable them widen their activities.

The president of AFI Mohammad Siddique Akbar in his welcome address made the participants abreast of AFI and its activities. He told that Anjuman Faizul Islam was established in 1943 on the desire of Founder of Pakistan Quid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to give shelter to affectees of Bengal riot and since that not only provide food, shelter and education to orphans but also working as social reform body.

He said AFI was not granted any kind of funds from government and NGOs and purely run on the donations given by philanthropists.

“A large number of students from Balochistan, Sindh, KPK, AJK and other cities of Pakistan are residing in APNA GHAR and they are treated equally”, he mentioned. He also paid tributes to the Turkish Embassy and Turkish Red Crescent Society for their cooperation with AFI.
