Rawalpindi - A 20-year-old married woman was burnt to death after sprinkling petrol by a maid of Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) along with a man in the limits of Police Station Chontra, informed police here on Saturday. The victim girl identified as Sajida Bibi was shifted to Rawal Burn Centre (RBC) of the Holy Family Hospital with 80 per cent burnt injuries but she succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi disclosed that police arrested two accused, including a woman namely Farzana Bibi who is also sister-in-law of the deceased and a man namely Asad, a wagon driver and resident of Kotly Satian, on victim’s statement she recorded before the police and some other people soon after the incident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Saddar Circle Sajid Gondal, Farzana Bibi along with Asad embarked Sajida in a vehicle from her house at 10:30 on Friday and off loaded her at some distance and sprinkled petrol on her. Later, both the accused set Sajida on fire due to which she suffered serious burnt injuries and was shifted to HFH where she died. “The accused fled after committing crime,” he said.

He said that Sajida before dying told police and some other people that her sister-in-law Farzana Bibi and Asad burnt her. Taking action, he said, police carried out a raid at Adiala Road and apprehended both the accused and shifted them to police station where a case was registered against them.

The DSP said that during investigation Farzana and Asad confessed to their crime. He said that Farzana told investigators that Sajida who was wife of her brother Faisal came to her hospital and met with her boss whom she told that she (Farzana) was involved in flesh trade business. “I killed her because she committed my character assassination,” DSP quoted the killer as saying. He said that Asad was told to be paramour of the accused lady.

Replying to a question, Sajid Gondal replied both killers had made plan to kill Sajida that was why they brought her out of home and burnt her to death. He told that police produced the killers before a court of law and obtained their physical remand.
