ISLAMABAD (APP) - The government has allocated Rs. 20515.876 million for Food, Agriculture and Livestock Division in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year (FY) 2008-09. In the PSDP 2008-09, 10 new projects have been initiated while number of the ongoing projects are 56. An amount of Rs. 1503.224 million has been allocated for new projects. Under the new projects, Rs. 500 million each have been allocated for Prime Minister's special initiatives for White Revolution and Wheat Maximization Programme. The government has allocated Rs. 200 million for Agriculture Sector Development Loan(Phase-II) Rs 150.224 million have been allocated for Biological Control of Major Cotton Pests in Pakistan with emphasis on Mealy Bug,Rs 50 million have been earmarked for Construction of Office building central cotton committee at Karachi, Rs 40 million reconstruction of test house in DALPMG at Karachi,Rs 20 million for National Pesticides Monitoring System, Rs 10 million for National Oil Seed Development an Commercial Production Programme and Rs 15 million for development of research facility at Olive Model Form Sungh Bhatti. For ongoing projects in the PSDP 2008-09, Rs. 9500 million have been allocated for National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses. Mega on-going projects including Land and Water Resources Development Project for Poverty Reduction will be allocated Rs. 1350 million for the completion of the project. Rs.1000 million have been allocated for Water Conservation and Productivity Enhancement through High Efficiency Irrigation System, Rs 350 million for Milk Collection/ processing and dairy production and development programme in the country. While an amount Rs 300 million have been earmarked for Prime Minister's special initiatives for livestock programme and Rs 100 million for strengthening SPS facilities and quality inspection services in compliance with WTO. Meanwhile, the government has allocated an amount of Rs 769.578 mln for various ongoing projects of the Textile Industry Division in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2008-09. According to the PSDP documents released on Wednesday, the allocated amount of Rs 769.578 mln would be spent on six projects including Lahore Garment City Project, Faisalabad Garment City Project, Providing and Laying Dedicated 48 inch Diameter mild Steel Water main for Textile City Karachi, Export Development Plan Implementation Unit, Upgradation of EDF Funded Textile Institutes and Holding of Conferences and Seminars. Meanwhile, the government has allocated Rs 1976.004 million for Information Technology and Telecommunication Division in the Public Sector Development Programme 2008-2009 for the implementation of eight new and seventy six ongoing projects. The amount allocated under Public Sector Development Programme would be provided from local resources. According to the break-up of the allocations for eight new schemes, an amount of Rs. 100.00 million have been allocated for Prime Minister's Special Initiative for Paperless Governance and another Rs 100,000 million for Prime Minister's Special Initiative for Video Conferencing Facility in the Federal Secretariat and Provincial Headquarters. The major part of the PSDP allocations for IT & Telecommunications Division, will be spent on seventy six ongoing projects in IT sector while an amount of Rs 617.311 million would be spent on the ongoing projects in telecom sector.
