LAHORE - The Review Team of BMZ from Germany visited All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab to review the Energy Efficiency Initiative undertaken by the APTMA Punjab for implementing Energy Management System (EnMS) in 25 participating textile mills. The German Review Team included Mr Thomas Schaef, Country Director GTZ Pakistan, Mr Matthiesen -BMZ, Country Director Pakistan, Ms Oppermann - BMZ Country Manager Pakistan, Dr Ch Janke, KFW Country Director Pakistan, Dr Pervez, KFW Pakistan Mr Bernhard Meyhoefer - GTZ REEE Project. The APTMA Punjab spokesman said the project was initiated a year back in collaboration with the GTZ and Small & Medium Development Authority (SMEDA). He said documentation based energy management system on energy efficiency is installed in 14 textile mills and has already started yielding results by saving up to 10% energy with no or nominal investment. A detailed presentation was made to the Review Team by the APTMA Punjab, highlighting achievements of the programme and its future potential. He said the purpose of an energy management system is to provide guidance for industrial enterprise to integrate energy efficiency into their management practices using the same plan-do-check-out approach of well known and widely use quality and environment management systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
