EU donates Rs30m equipment to UoP

The European Union on Tuesday handed over equipment worth around Rs30 million to the University of Peshawar.
The equipment include 25 laptops, 10 UPS, 34 3G Internet modem, photocopier machines, printers etc. The equipment were handed over in a ceremony held at the University of Peshawar.
Ambassador and Head Delegation of EU Lars Gunnar Wigemark presented the donation to Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan.
Deputy Head of Delegation Pierre Mayaudon and Counsellor Berend de Groot were also present on the occasion.
“The donation has been given as per set tradition by the European Union, as whenever a EU election observation Mission (EOM) has completed its duties, all in country procured equipment are donated to national institutions,” said the Deputy Head of Delegation.
He said around 110 observers came to Pakistan in the EU-EOM. The conduction process and transparency of election in 91 per cent of the polling stations was satisfactory.
“Investment in higher education is key towards changing the fate of people of KPK and Fata,” said the VC while talking to the delegation. He said that funding to higher education in Pakistan was aimed to bring it at par with international standards. Referring the prevailing situation, the VC stated that people of Fata have remained underprivileged and it’s high time to bring their life up to a minimum standard so that problems could be controlled.–Staff Reporter
