Four outlaws were killed and a Sub-Inspector injured in two shootouts occurred separately here the other day.According to detail, in Rahim Yar Khan three dacoits were killed in a shootout with police near Chak 221/P in Tehsil Sadiqabad, the police claimed. SP (Investigations) and Acting DPO Tanveer Hussain Tunio told the media that six unidentified persons entered the house of one Riaz Arian in Chak 123/P the other night and made off with valuables worth Rs4 million. Following the incident, the affected family made an emergency call on Police helpline 15. Acting on the information, the Manthar Police sprung into action and established a picket near brackish water drain in Chak 221/P. In the meantime six dacoits, riding two motorcycles, opened fire on the police personnel as soon as they took sight of them. The police personnel asked them to surrender but the dacoits continued firing, leaving the police party with no option but to retaliated. The cross-fire continued for about an hour resulting in the death of three dacoits while their other accomplices made good their escape from the scene amide darkness of the night. The police recovered a Kalashnikov, a repeater gun and a pistol with some rounds, two gold bangles, locket and Rs37,000 and two motorcycles. DPO Tunio claimed that the dacoits had been involved in a robbery committed in the remit of Airport Police some days back. Two cases one each at the Manthar and Airport police stations have been registered against the dacoits. On the other hand, some locals, requesting anonymity, claimed that there was no any shootout took place in the area. They said that the police killed the dacoits who had already been arrested and termed it as a shootout.In BAHAWALNAGAR, a proclaimed offender was killed while a Sub-Inspector sustained injuries in exchange of fire here in the limits of Chishtian Saddr Police. According to details, the Chishtian Saddr Police while acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in Chak 4-G for the arrest of proclaimed offender Bashir alias Bashiri Kamboh. When the police reached the hideout of Kamboh, he opened fire and injured Sub-Inspector Shafique. The police retaliated the fire during which the PO sustained gunshots wounds. He was shifted to THQ Hospital Chishtian from where he was referred to BVH Bahawalpur where Bashiri succumbed his injuries. According to the police, he was wanted to the police in 14 cases of heinous crime.
