JI raises voice against 75 schools’ closure

BAHAWALPUR
Thousands of Cholistani children will be deprived of education and hundreds of teachers of jobs as 75 community schools are going to be closed down in Cholistan areas connecting Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts.During the last tenure, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Shahbaz directed to promote education in Cholistan by establishing community schools on which the Cholistan Development Department established 75 community schools in different areas of Cholistan. But due to lack of interest of Cholistan Development Authority, these community schools, which are facing funds shortage, will be closed down in the coming months while five schools have already been closed. However, Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar has tabled a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against the schools’ closure. Talking to the media, Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar said that the educational project should not be ended in the area. He added that the teachers of these schools should be given the status of primary teachers and for this purpose a voice will be raised at every forum.
