About 1,000 farmers whose properties were acquired for the Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park (Garment City) have been paid, said Assistant Commission Rashid Irshad.

He said the immoveable property of 1,400 farmers in Khokhar Ki Malyan, Kheroki Malyan, Qiampura, Sahoki Malyan, Mandyala, Mojoki Malyan and Saithian had already been acquired.

Within a few weeks, the payments had been transferred to the accounts of a number of farmers after verification of their revenue documents while the remaining would be paid shortest.

The Punjab government has paid more than Rs2.25 million per acre to the farmers. The farmers voluntarily signed agreements with the government on the acquisition of land.
