Talks with Taliban only way to restore peace: Sami

LAHORE- Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq has said that negotiations with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were the only way to restore peace in Pakistan.

Talking to journalists’ today, the JUI-Sami chief said that the US knew that talks had been suspended that’s why it has restarted drone attacks in Pakistan’s territory. The JUI-S chief urged the government to resume peace talks with the TTP immediately. Condemning terrorist attacks in Karachi and Taftan, Maulana Samiul Haq said that ‘foreign forces’ including India were involved in these attacks.

Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said that the federal and provincial governments would be confined to their secretariats if concrete measures were not adopted for restoration of peace in the country. He said that the situation was not getting normal despite increase in the amount allocated for restoration of peace. 

Earlier, while talking to journalists in Islamabad, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman termed the negotiation between the government and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) just a drama.

He said JUI-F was ready to play the role in restoration of peace if the government sought support of his party in this regard. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the establishment thinks that the issue can be solved only by launching operation in Waziristan.
