LAHORE - Punjab Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Wednesday urged District Labour Officers to improve performance regarding elimination of child labour, registration of kiln workers, checking of weight and measures and imposing fine on violations.Chairing a meeting held at Industrial Relations Institute Township to review the performance of the district officers, he urged the officials to improve their performance by using modern method. 

Stress:  Pakistan People’s Party Patron-In-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday stressed more efforts to remove the perils of Child Labour from Pakistan and provide the children with strong social protection.

The PPP chief said that children were the future of our nation and every parent was accountable to save their children from falling into the trap of child labour. “However, it is the responsibility of the state to protect the children and take strong and committed steps to ensure that every child is given adequate chance to education, health, leisure and basic freedoms,” he added. He also urged the Sindh government to fully activate its Labour department to boost its energies to save the children from falling prey to child labour and sustain the campaign until it is completely wiped out.

International Labour Organisation (ILO), having 185 countries as the member states including Pakistan, is observing World Day Against Child Labour to draw attention to the role of social protection in keeping children out of child labour and removing them from it.
