Punjab budget will increase poverty: Moonis Elahi

LAHORE:  From the Punjab rulers there is no relief for the poor, farmers, youth and common man in the budget for the new financial year. Instead this budget will increase poverty, lawlessness, corruption and problems of the people belonging to all walks of life.

These bitter facts have been highlighted by Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Punjab parliamentary leader Moonis Elahi, MPAs Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal, Aamir Sultan Cheema, Sardar Asif Nakai, Mohammad Shah Khagga, Dr Mohammad Afzal, Baasima Chaudhry and Khadeeja Farooqi in a joint statement issued this evening.

They said it has again been proved by the new budget that health and education problems of common people are not included in the priorities of the Punjab government.

“Their priories are only such show off projects on which photos of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are displayed and allocations have been made only for these projects, public servants salaries have been increased very nominally, no measures have been taken for reduction in dearness,” they added.

They said funds have been allocated for mausoleums but living human beings and their health, education and protection have been ignored, taxes have not been reduced.

They said that a mini-budget was given ahead of the budget by increasing petrol prices.
