LAHORE You may believe it or not the City Police Force comprising 30,000 personnel has badly failed in protecting the lives and property of the innocent citizens, as five people have been killed in the provincial capital in the last 72 hours. In a recent wave of terror, three citizens were gunned down by armed dacoits in Johar Town and Samanabad police precincts seconds after they offered resistance during robbery bids. Moreover, a police constable shot dead two youths in what the police concerned later claimed an encounter and claimed the deceased were robbers. As per official record, two SSPs, 12 SPs six for operation and six for investigation wings are supervising the police contingents in their divisions concerned. The City police have further framed special squads including Mujahid Squad, Muhafiz Squad and Elite Force etc for surprising raids while each police station has deputed a specific vehicle for patrolling round the clock. Billions of rupees are being allocated for the department but the result is zero. The pathetic situation shows the bandits and gangsters are mocking the performance of CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen, DIG (Operations) Rao Sardar, SSP Operations Faisal Rana, SP CIA Umer Virk, all the divisional SPs and SHOs. It seems the officers have nothing to do with the lives and properties of the masses but to stay in their lavish offices and enjoy cups of tea and dry fruits the daylong. Four dacoits gunned down a 45-year-old storeowner Muhammad Khalil and his worker Gulzaar Ahmed on offering resistance here at busy Multan Road in Samanabad area and fled away after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs one million on late Wednesday. A youth Rashid Latif was knocked down by robbers near Doctors Hospital in Johar Town area seconds after he closed his shop in Jevan Market. Meanwhile a constable of Baghbanpura police gunned down two youths one was the son of a professor claiming the deceased were dacoits.
