Six militants were killed and three soldiers wounded in a shootout in the Orakzai tribal region on Saturday, government officials said. The shootout occurred as militants attacked a security check post in Orakzais Ghaljo area, report said. There was no independent confirmation of the incident as the area is remote and off-limits to journalists. Orakzai is one of the most lawless areas in Pakistans northwest tribal region, which is made up of seven districts near the Afghan border. Pakistan launched a major operation in Orakzai in March last year after militants fled a sweeping offensive in the nearby tribal district of South Waziristan.
