ISLAMABAD: An important meeting was held between President Asif Ali Zardari and a high level PML-Q delegation headed by Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on late Friday. The meeting was followed by dinner hosted by President Zardari in the honour of PML-Q delegation. The meeting discussed at length the prevailing political situation in the country especially in Punjab where PML-N has kicked out the PPP from the provincial government and forced it to move to the opposition benches. Sources privy to these developments informed TheNation that both the parties have decided to forge a lasting political alliance under which they may also do seat adjustments in the next elections. Both sides have also agreed to form a joint opposition in the Punjab Assembly. Similarly both sides have decided to cooperate in the National Assembly and the Senate where the PML-Q enjoys majority. They have also agreed to take the fate to Unification Group to its logical end bu having them de-steated as early as possible to put more pressure on the PML-N. Other members of the PML-Q delegation were Senator Waseem Sajjad, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Amir Muqam, Kamil Ali Agha and Riaz Pirzada while the PPP side included President PPP Punjab, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, PPP KPK President Zahir Shah, Political Secretary, Ms Rukhsana Bangash, Ms Fouzia Habib, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar and Dr. Qayum Soomro. As per Presidents Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, both sides discussed current political situation in the country. He quoted Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as telling the PPP side that the PML would not be a party to any attempt to destabilize the government. He said the party believed that the present democratic dispensation should complete its mandatory term of five years. Mr Zardari thanked Mr Shujaat for these sentiments.
