IHC issues contempt notice to PM Ashraf

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued a contempt notice to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf over failure to implement court’s order for implementation on recommendations of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The petition filed by Superintendent Engineer of PWD Zohair Khalid  adopted the stance that on February 9, 2011, the chairman of central selection board Rana Bghagwan Das had proposed to promote Zohair Khalid to grade 20 as Chief Engineer but the Prime Minister did not sign the summary.
IHC’s then chief Justice Iqbal Hamid-ur-Rehman on June 24, 2011 also issued order for implementation of commission’s recommendation but the premier sought suggestion from secretary housing and the decision remained pending.
Petitioner’s counsel Col (retd.) Inam Rahim told court that the prime minister had only issued orders for the promotion of his son-in-law, adding the incumbent government has completed hat-trick in contempt notices.
On this, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Cout issued contempt notice to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, his Principal Secretary Ayub Qazi and Deputy Secretary Establishment.
