MIRPUR (AJK) - The 25th death anniversary of eminent Kashmir freedom struggle leader and former Azad Jammu & Kashmir president Khurshid Hassan Khurshid was marked solemnity and respect. Rich tribute was paid the departed Kashmiri leader with the renewal of the pledge to continue his mission to bring the Kashmir freedom movement to its logical end.

It was official holiday announced by the AJK government to facilitate the admirers and followers of late KH Khursheed who was the founding chief of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League, from AJK and Pakistan to participate in the major ceremony held at his mausoleum in capital Muzaffarabad.

On the occasion Quran Khawani was held for the departed soul besides a special function to pay glorious tribute to the late Kashmiri leader for his remarkable services for the Kashmiris indigenous liberation movement. In Mirpur, the death anniversary of KH Khrsheed was marked at a ceremony arranged by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League (JKLL) district chapter with its District President Shahid Majeed Mallick in the chair.

JKLL Sr Vice President Ch Muhammad Suleman, newly-elected Azad Jammu & Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association President Raja Fazal Hussain Rabani and JKLL Vice President Ch Shoukat Ali were the chief guests on the occasion.

Speakers including Shahid Majeed Mallick paid glowing tributes to KH Khurshid for his meritorious services for the Kashmir cause including to fight for the achievement of Kashmiris birth right to self-determination.

On the occasion, they demanded that Kashmir issue should be settled in line with the recognised United Nations which clearly spoke of the early grant of the birth right of self-determination to the people Jammu Kashmir. They said that India could not win the hearts of kashmiri people despite initiating various measures and taking different political summersaults to muster their sympathies. The speakers said that late KH Khurshid, also private secretary to father of the nation - Quaid-e-Azam, rendered great services for the cause of Kashmiris struggle for liberation of the motherland from the Indian yoke.

They emphasized that best way to pay tribute to the departed Kashmiri leader was to follow in his footsteps for the achievement of the destination he set for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

They said that it was the result of the sacrifices of over 1,25,000 Kashmiri martyrs that Kashmir emerged as the flash point and the freedom-loving and civilized world community were pressing for the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir problem.
