PESHAWAR – A landmine blast killed at least three soldiers including a captain and injured two others in Mamozai area of Orakzai Agency on Monday.
Sources said that blast occurred early in the morning at 5: 23 am when a landmine device planted on a roadside hit the convoy of security forces. As the convoy reached Dolanai area, the device exploded with a bang killing three troops and injuring two others.
The soldiers killed in the blast were identified as Captain Abbas, soldier Waseem and Lance Nike Rizwan.
The injured were rushed to Tehsil Ghaljo Hospital in Orakzai Agency through an army helicopter and later were shifted to CMH Tall.
Soon after the incident, security forces launched a search operation and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition including mortar shells. The area where security forces convoy was attacked was cordoned off by the Army. Security forces also use this route to enter Kurram Agency.
Meanwhile, local Taliban group claimed responsibility for the attack saying heavy losses were inflicted on security forces and six army vehicles were destroyed in attack.
It merits mentioning here that security forces are engaged in military operation in Orakzai Agency for the last four years and they have claimed clearing of 95 per cent area of Taliban militants.
