SAHIWAL - The District Education Department has acknowledged the efforts of Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) for its Whole School Improvement Programme (WSIP).

The ITA carried out the development work in three elementary and primary schools for girls in district Sahiwal under its WSIP. The ITA revamped the schools by constructing new classrooms, staffrooms, washrooms, playgrounds and footpaths on the schools premises. The organisation also repaired the dilapidated structure, modified the water supply scheme, installed water pumps and water tanks and also whitewashed and electrified these schools.

The ITA under the programme provided potable water by installing water purification systems and electric water coolers. Moreover, it also donated basic furniture and a computer to these schools besides planting a number of trees to ensure better environment.

In this regard, the District Education Department has issued a letter of appreciation expresses the gratification of EDO to ITA for carrying out the development work and Philip Morris for funding the entire project. It commended the efforts of ITA and Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited (PMPKL) for supporting and facilitating the district administration in achieving their mission of providing quality education to the students.  The EDO Education hoped that ITA and PMPKL will initiate more such development projects in the district. PMPKL has already planned many projects in the areas of education and environmental sustainability in Sahiwal for the current year. On the other hand, the ITA's major programmes include WSIP, non-formal education programs for child labour and vulnerable groups, literacy and livelihood programmes for youth and adults, early childhood education, health and environment, professional development and capacity-building of educators.
