Lahore - The head of the delegation of Shandong Ruyi Group of China and Vice President of the Group, Jerry Liu who met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Tuesday paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister for revolutionary policies in Punjab and encouragement of projects especially in energy sector.

He said there was a favourable atmosphere for investment in Punjab and his group wants to make investment in the province due to charismatic personality and dedication of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that Shahbaz Sharif’s style of work was very impressive and the way with which he is working for the betterment of the people would not only raise the living standard of the masses but employment opportunities would also be increased due to investment.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the dream of progress and prosperity cannot be realized without economic security. He said that Pakistan’s economy was strengthening due to solid economic reforms.

He said that there are vast opportunities of investment in energy, agriculture and livestock sectors. He said that there was a need to promote trade relations between Canada and Pakistan and there should be exchange of maximum trade delegations.

He was talking to Canadian High Commissioner, Greg Giokas who met him, here today. Matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations between Canada and Pakistan were discussed in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that Pakistan was facing different challenges including shortage of energy but the government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is determined to cope with these problems. He said that far-reaching reforms are being introduced in economic and social sectors while top priority is being given to rid the people of the problems of shortage of electricity and a comprehensive roadmap is being implemented for this purpose.

Shahbaz said that several projects of power generation through traditional and alternative resources were being started with the cooperation of friendly countries. Referring to Nandipur Power Project near Gujranwala, the Chief Minister said that this important project was kept pending for a long period during the tenure of former government but it has now been revived and the first turbine of Nandipur power project would start operating within next two months.

He said that Nandipur power project will be completed by the end of current year. He said that the government is working on different projects of power generation from coal, hydle, solar and other alternative resources. Shahbaz Sharif said that the present government had promoted corruption free culture due to which a number of foreign companies are making investment in different sectors in Pakistan. He said that Canadian investors can also benefit from the vast investment opportunities in the country. 

Canadian High Commissioner Greg Giokas, while speaking on the occasion, said that Canada wanted to promote cooperation with Pakistan in energy and other sectors. He also invited Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to visit Canada. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed, Secretary Agriculture, Chairman Punjab Investment Board and other senior officers were present.
