LAHORE - Three members of same family were buried alive while two others got critically wounded when the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in Chuhng area on Wednesday, police and rescuers said.

The deceased persons were identified as Haseen Bibi, her 40-year-old son Mushtaq Ahmed, and 35-year-old daughter Muqaddas.

Local residents said that the family members were sleeping in their house located in LDA Avenue Scheme near Raiwind Road when all of a sudden the roof caved in.

Rescue workers rushed to the spot soon after the incident and managed to pull out the victims after removing the debris. Haseen Bibi, her sons Mushtaq Ahmed, Aftab, and daughters Muqaddas and Sadaf were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital.

However, Haseen Bibi, Mushtaq Ahmed and Muqaddas died on the way to hospital, while condition of Sadaf and Aftab was said to be serious.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow and grief over the deaths. According to a spokesperson, the chief minister sympathised with the bereaved family and ordered the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
