A team raided a poultry shop of accused of Shaukat Ali in Saddar Bazaar Sialkot Cantt and seized 240 kilogrammes of meat of dead chicken.

Cantt police have registered a case against the fleeing accused shopkeeper after arresting the shop’s employee accused Mir Ali. Further investigations were underway

On the other side, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Shamail Ahmed Khawaja said that the government was committed to making Sialkot a model district of the country following its global industrial significance by launching mega development projects.

He was talking to the newsmen at DCO office. He praised the pivotal role of Sialkot based newsmen in the socio-economic uplift of Sialkot. He revealed a mega plan had been finalised for widening, re-modeling and re-alignment of Nullah Bhed to save Sialkot city from recurring flood disasters.

He added that Rs100 million would be spent on the project as the construction would be completed before the coming rain and flood season. He said the government would ensure the smooth flow of floodwater in the Bhed.

Early realignment of the Nullah was direly needed to save Sialkot city and local people from flood disasters in future, he added. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had finally approved the projects of establishing over head bridge in Sialkot city’s congested China Chowk and an underpass in Shahabpura locality. He said that Rs100 million were being spent on project of construction of sewerage system Shahabpura Chowk to Nullah Aik via Adalatgarha Phaatak Area in Sialkot. He said that project of establishment of Eastern Bypass Sialkot had already been completed.

He narrated that Punjab government had approved the projects Sialkot-Lahore Expressway and a Ring Road around the Sialkot city. He said that the feasibility reports for the projects of Sialkot-Lahore Expressway and Ring Road were being made, which would soon be sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for the final approval.

Earlier, he presided over a meeting of the heads of the district departments. He gave a final deadline of March 31, 2015 to the officials concerned for the completion of mega project of construction , widening and dualisation of the 46km main Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road.

He said that three girls’ degree colleges would be set up one each at Satrah-Daska, Maraakiwal-Sialkot and Bajra Garhi-Pasrur. A Rs6.5 billion plan of Nullah Dek has also been approved. He inaugurated tree-plantation campaign by planting tree in Daska.
