Islamabad - Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, during checking of food outlets in the markets, has imposed fines Rs 150,000 on the owners for failing to comply with the Hygiene and Sanitation Rules.
The inspection teams of food and health department conducted 98 inspections of food outlets during the last week and issued 14 notices to the food outlets for failing to comply with food safety laws.
According to a spokesman of ICT here on Wednesday, the teams also delivered 13 lectures on the public health and directed the food outlets owners to improve the hygiene and sanitation conditions immediately failing which stern action would be taken against the violators.
He said that 32 filthy utensils confiscated on the spot while a milk shop was sealed for selling sub-standard milk and arrested the accused.  District Food Controller, Islamabad, during checking in Kohsar market, imposed fines on unhygienic food outlets.
The inspector also distributed list of ‘Haram’ food items among the store owners and directed them not to keep any such food item in their store and refrain from selling and buying ‘Haram’food items.
 
He also confiscated 12 packets of sub-standard bubble gum.
