An awareness walk was held here at District Headquarters Hospital in connection with the World Kidney Day.

The walk led by PMC Principal Muhammad Ali Tirmazi, MS Abdul Rauf, AMS Habib Butter and a large number of doctors, paramedical staff, people belonging to different sections of life participated in the walk.

It started from DHQ Hospital and ended the same place after passing through the different roads.  Addressing the participants, Dr Tirmazi said that preventive measures and awareness can help combat kidney diseases. He stressed a need for raising public awareness of the disease.

He said that such diseases were rising alarmingly in Pakistan.

He said that timely treatment of the disease necessary. He said blood pressure and sugar which are primary causes of kidney diseases be treated immediately.

MS Abdul Rauf said that DHQ management was focusing on kidney diseases and specialist doctors were available for treatment. Free dialysis facility is being provided already to patients of kidney diseases, he said.  AMS Habib Butter explained that a 100-bed separate kidney centre will be made operational in DHQ Hospital soon.
