'Bullet for bullet' will not bring peace in held Kashmir: Mufti

The policy of "bullet for bullet" will not bring peace and normalcy to Jammu and Kashmir, its former chief minister and People's Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said on Monday. "Bullet for bullet policy is no answer to bring complete peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. It would only cause further bloodshed and mayhem," he said at a function here. In a democratic country, normalcy demands dialogue, he said. Sayeed claimed that it was due to the implementation of the common minimum programme of the PDP that truce was ushered on the border. He said the PDP had promised the people initiation of the peace process with Pakistan to promote fraternity among both countries. "Promises made to the people have almost been fulfilled by the coalition government during the last three years," he said and hoped the PDP would get the electorate's support again. He assured to remove regional disparities and give equal treatment to the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
