MD PIA Nadeem Khan Yousufzai while addressing officers of PIA Senior Staff Association (PIASSA) on May 9 has announced that PIA officers will get salary increase and revision in pay scales soon. He said as per the MoU signed between the PIA management and PIASSA, will be put forth to the Board of Directors for approval. While welcoming the MDs good gesture to the said increase/revision, I through your esteemed newspaper draw his kind attention towards the poor plight of PIA retired employees who are presently getting meagre pension amount so much so they are unable to pay even one monthly utility bill from such amount. Needless to mention here, they were PIA retirees who during their long services in national carriers made untiring efforts so much so that PIA was treated as one of the best airlines of the world in the past. Now they are in trouble and unable to face high inflation having no alternate source of income. Therefore PIA MD Nadeem Khan Yousafzai is hereby requested to move for enhancement in meagre amount of pension for PIA retirees considerably and also order to release their pension amount from Pension Fund as per rules, before commencement of their schedule peaceful walk from Star Gate to PIA Head Office, Karachi organized by PIA Retired Employees Association (PIAREA) for this purpose.
