It has been a common practice on the part of the police to wilfully slow down the investigation of cases. This is due to incompetence, bribery or pressure from vested interests. This halt in investigation affects the outcome of the case, where the victim is always the one who suffers. For years the verdict is delayed and the victim seems to bear the brunt of the legal system. It is imperative that a proper complaint procedure should be established to facilitate the public, if the proceedings of an investigation are being hampered due to the negligence of the police.
