Everyone knows there’s a seats shortage in different departments of Karachi University, especially in Visual Studies. Every year hundreds of students are turned away. This year, more than a thousand students appeared in the exam in which 300 passed which was presumed that all would get admission but only 117 students were given admission. The question is, what is missing in the students who are dropped, or is this just a random thing?
There may be scarcity of resources; Government ought to play its role to resolve this problem so the students would not be turned away. There is also another curse called ‘Reserved Seats.’ These seats are sold to the highest bidder. I think that the dean and head of the department suggest that the students should change their field or try next year. Can this be the only solution?
