Fact or Fiction?

“These agents have been receiving funds

from RAW for the last 22 years and

destroying peace in Karachi.”

–Mustafa Kamal, Sukker, 10 May 2016.

Since returning to Pakistan the leader of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) has accused his previous boss and leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of all manners of wrongs; from being complicit in murder to colluding with the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). These claims do find traction in the anti-Altaf crowd in the establishment but are they fact or fiction?

Despite the seemingly endless allegations against Altaf Hussain, there has not any credible evidence against him, especially when it comes to his links with RAW. There have only been video “confessions” by men held in Rangers and Police custody – all inadmissible evidence. Mustafa Kamal – who spent the better part of two decades with the man – has based his entire allegation on his personal eyewitness account. There is no independent documentation, such as suspicious bank transactions or recorded communication between Altaf Hussain and India. Given the political motivations of Mustafa Kamal, his personal account is no use either.

Perhaps the most telling fact is that the JIT formed specifically to probe these links after Sarfraz Merchant claim that he had defining proof has made no progress, neither has the FIA or Scotland Yard when it comes to the alleged collusion with RAW. Until Mustafa Kamal comes up with hard evidence his claims remain in the realm of fiction.
