FAISALABAD - Seven people including two women were killed in different incidents in and around the city during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Tuesday that Alam Sher, resident of Chak No. 237-RB Khaddian Warraichan killed his wife Asima Bibi (35) with a blow of axes on the suspicion of illicit relations with a youth of the same locality.
In another incident, 65-year-old Anayat and his son Ansar (24) residents of Chak No.97-GB were shot dead on Jail Road by their rivals when they were returning back after meeting their close relative Asim in Central Jail.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Muhammad Zafar, 32-year-old Naseem Bibi, 16-year-old Ehtesham Amir and 85-year-old Rani Bibi were killed in separate road accidents in Faisalabad. Police were investigating.
129 business centers sealed over SOPs breach
The district administration sealed 129 business centres and arrested 514 people on the charge of violating anti-corona SOPs and lockdown in different areas of Faisalabad during past 24 hours.
A spokesman for the local government said on Tuesday that officers of local administration checked various shopping malls, restaurants and markets and found 129 business centers where lockdown and anti-corona SOPs were being violated.
Therefore, the admin officers sealed the centers and got arrested 514 people and imposed a fine of Rs73,000 on them for not wearing face masks and not maintaining social distance.
PHP starts special SOPs awareness campaign
Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) police launched a special public awareness campaign for implementation on anti-corona SOPs in true letter and spirit in Faisalabad region.
PHP spokesman said on Tuesday that on direction of SSP Patrolling Mirza Anjum Kamal, DSP Patrolling Malik Muhammad Amin along with Incharge Mobile Education Unit PHP Sub Inspector Rizwan Bhatti visited various PHP posts and directed the patrolling Jawans to act upon government SOPs strictly.
They interacted with the general public travelling on various roads and convinced them to follow preventive measures and ensure implementation of corona SOPs in toto.
They distributed informative pamphlets among the road users and said that use of facemasks and social distance were imperative to defeat the coronavirus as it was most easy way to save themselves. They also requested the citizens not to allow their underage children to drive vehicles on roads as it was not only dangerous for their own life but they would also post serious threats to the lives and properties of others.
They also appealed to abide by traffic rules and regulations which were imperative for safe travelling. PHP police will remain active round the clock to help the road users in emergent situation and need hours and the travellers can contact it through helpline 1124 at any time, they added.
