LAHORE - Federal Investigation agency (FIA) on Tuesday obtained seven days remand of Munaf Kalia, Director of Khanani and Kalia (K&K), in a case of illegal transfer of billion of dollars abroad. The same court had already granted custody of Javed Khanani, also a Director of the company, to FIA till November 14. FIA had also arrested two other persons Rustam Ali and Tariq Mahmood who run a money exchange company in Gujranwala and on their information Directors of K & K were arrested. It is pertinent to mention here that FIA had produced Kalia on Monday in a Magisterial court at Karachi and obtained his transit remand to shift him to Lahore for interrogation. He was shifted to Lahore the same evening. Kalia was brought to court of Faisal Jamil amid high security as no media men were allowed to enter the court room. The court granted seven days remand with directions to produce him again till November 17. These persons have been booked under the provisions of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act and Electronic Ordinance.
