LAHORE - The PPP's Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan on Tuesday said that his party would give a "breaking news" to the party workers and the people at large if its power-sharing deal with PML-N did not materialise in Punjab. Talking to reporters after chairing a meeting of party's Punjab Executive Committee here, Rana Aftab said that PPP would not give up its due share of power in Punjab in any case, and if the PML-N leadership showed any laxity in this regard, the party would give a "breaking news" to the people. Though he did not elaborate the expression "breaking news", but his choice of words was indicative of PPP's future strategy in Punjab in case the PML-N did not fulfil its commitments made with the PPP with regard to power-sharing in the province. The PPP's top leadership, he said, has been informed of the difficulties being faced by the party in Punjab, and was waiting for its response. The PPP leader said that his party was desirous of keeping the coalition intact in Punjab, but it was not ready to abandon its share of power in the province. Talking about the restoration of Commissioner system in Punjab, Rana termed it unconstitutional, saying that an amendment should have been made in the local government ordinance to give it a legal cover. The said ordinance, he said, was part of sixth schedule in the Constitution, and hence could not be amended without President's consent. Talking about agenda of Tuesday meeting, he said that party has chalked out a comprehensive programme to observe Benazir Bhutto's first death anniversary with full reverence. Party organisations have been asked to hold functions from November 30 to December 27 to mark the day, he added. Rana said all inactive party organisations have been directed to improve their performance, failing which, they would be dismantled forthwith. He said that those office bearers of party's Youth Wing who are above the age of 35 would be expelled from this organisation, because it was right of young party workers to be given representation in this wing. Rana announced that Haji Afzal Chan of PPP's Kissan Wing and Khalid Bobi of PSP, Punjab have voluntarily announced to leave their respective offices in favour of their coming incumbents.
