ISLAMABAD The residents of Katchi Abadis staged a protest demonstration, demanding ownership rights of their slums existed across the federal capital and implementation of 5 per cent quota of employment in government organisations. While holding placards holding placards inscribed with the slogans like Regularise all Katchi Abadis; Settle the affectees of Chak Shahzad; Abolish the contractor system in CDA they also appealed to Prime Minister and President to sack CDA Chairman for misbehaving with minorities representative. The protestors said that the majority of the poor people belonging to minorities were forced to live on green belts and on footpaths for many years but concerned authorities have never bothered to settle them. Besides this, CDA forcefully evicted the poor people living in Chak Shahzad and they had to live in the green belt of G-7/1 for more than four months. They demanded of the government to compensate Chak Shahzad affectees settled in H-9 by giving them plots in residential sectors of the city. They also raised slogans against the incumbent CDA Chairman for insulting a representative of minorities named Sohail Romi and condemned this act of Chairman. Karamat Maseeh, a representative of the minorities while talking on the occasion said that the government was treating indifferently as Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal did not give any aid to minorities despite the fact that they were also citizens of the country. He condemned this dual standard of the concerned authorities. They also demanded to abolish contractor system in CDA, which they termed as only mean of corruption by the civic authority as well as these contractors were also exploiting the poor sanitary workers as they did not pay well to them.
